I am roughly 6,000 miles and 34 shows into this tour.

Three days left, then it will be time for Christmas, in France (above).

Tonight we played in Edinburgh with LightGuides (who we also played with last night in Aberdeen, greatest two day tour of my life). They’re a band I’ve grown very fond of in the past 24 hours. Best scottish boys I’ve ever met. Excited to get stuck into their new EP (which is out now/soon).

I also got to catch up with my pal Justin Grounds tonight which was magical. He also has a new album out soon. Hopefully we’ll meet for lunch tomorrow and he’ll play me the album and then I can rant about how great it is.

We’ve been driving a lot, in the dark, in the cold, in the snow, on long scottish roads.

Noah Kalina has a speech I’ve heard him tell often to ward people from old music, specifically that we should actively pair new memories with new soundtracks to define our zeitgeist.

The thing is, there are so often those moments when I want to throw in the towel and admit they got it right.

This is one of my favorite photographs ever. Apollo 11 launch day, July 16, 1969. The grain, the color, the morning light, the expression on Neil Armstrong’s face; it’s all so intense. These three guys preparing to sit on top of a missile and go a quarter million miles away from home to land on the moon for the first time.

This version actually looks somewhat color corrected, the original with the weird color is even more surreal.

The image is on the Apollo Archive site, which is almost entirely javascript, so you can’t really link to the specific image, other than the exact jpg file. Let the trawling begin!

Last summer, the boys from Zut Alors came to live at my house in Connecticut for a month and I produced this unreleased EP. Then they got home to England and broke up. Which really sucks, cause it was a pretty cool project.

Back in August, I filmed two shows for Francis and the Lights, at Zebulon in Brooklyn. There were three of us filming, Sam Fuller, Jakob Lodwick and myself. Hopefully, a bunch of my footage will make it into the film. Excited to see it.
